Philippine Airlines has chosen IBS Software’s cloud-based iCargo platform to replace its existing cargo system, the airline and software provider said. The implementation is intended to extend iCargo across PAL’s domestic and international cargo operations.
IBS Software said the deployment will support PAL’s modernisation programme and a full range of business functions. For international cargo, iCargo is designed to handle customs reporting, settlement of duties and taxes, and regulatory compliance. The same platform is already used by carriers with a similar combination of domestic and international requirements, according to IBS Software.
The transition is meant to address operational requirements including system performance and data analytics. iCargo is expected to support faster shipment processing, greater reliability and end-to-end shipment visibility, while reducing manual intervention and enabling more efficient processes.
Jason Siy, vice president for cargo business at Philippine Airlines, said the initiative is an important step in modernising the cargo business. He said the airline needs a system that increases visibility and improves operational efficiency as it grows across its domestic and international network, adding that PAL sees iCargo as a key enabler of its long-term cargo transformation strategy.
The system replacement is planned to cover both domestic and international operations. The announcement did not provide a timeline, contract value or specific performance targets.
